5 Simple Tips for Getting More Done in your Day Tomorrow
Time just seems to spin away doesn’t it? You think you have your day planned with goals of what you want to accomplish then ‘poof’ the day is gone! And maybe you only got half of your goals done, so the rest go on your list for tomorrow but tomorrow is already busy, so what’s a girl to do?
This happens to all of us. It certainly happens to me more than I‘d like to admit. I always have so many things I want to do, want to create, want to learn, and want to be part of.
Sometimes one of the toughest things is to figure out what you can get rid of, delete, and simply decide not to do it.
Let me share some tips I have learned over time, simply from myself and my own situations as well as those I have learned from others.
Tip 1. Be gentle with yourself.
You don’t have to get a bizillion things done in one day. Take time for lunch or breaks by not sitting at your computer but go outside or just to another room.
Tip 2. Buy yourself a cheap kitchen timer you can keep at your desk.
Set it for 45 minutes. Work, concentrate, and accomplish what you can. When the timer goes off you are a free woman for 15 minutes! Check your email, make a phone call, stretch, get some water………….then set the timer for 45 minutes again. Even if you only did this a few times a day, you might be amazed at what you can complete.
Tip 3. Is there a task you really don’t want to do, don’t like to do but you have to do it anyway?
Do it first. Get it done and out of the way then move on to something more fun for you.
Tip 4. Turn off your Outlook or whatever email system you use.
You cannot truly concentrate when emails are flying by your screen or beeping away at you. You can check it in your free 15 minutes.
Tip 5. Learn to say ‘no.’
That two letter word can be the toughest word in the English language sometimes! I know you have so many interests and so many things you want to do. I know you might feel badly if you feel like you should say ‘yes’. I know you wish you could do ALL those things you want to do, I know because I feel the same way. I want to do so so many things, but it’s just not realistic for me or for you. If you are serious about building your business do not say yes to ‘business opportunities’ unless they will move your business forward.
And of course say a resounding ‘yes!’ to fun things that come up! You have to be sure you save a good chunk of your week for the fun and leisure times. All work and no play will not make for successful and happy woman!

A great online timer tool is: http://timberfrog.com/countdown/
Best of all, it is free.

Good list Kim! I like to pick my 3 priorities for the day. Do those then add one at a time until I feel done for the day. Of course I’m a lot lazier than most people, but it could work for them too in conjunction with your timer tip.

You lazy? I don’t think so Miriam! I agree about the 3 priorities. Especially getting the things you dislike most………at the beginning of the day. A. it gets it done B. it feels so much better to get it out of the way!
