Why “Older” Women Need to be Entrepreneurs

I recently read an article from the Harvard Business Review titled “Older Women Are Being Forced Out of the Workplace”

An interesting study was done where researchers created 40,000 job applications and submitted them to a variety of online job postings. These were all fictional people looking for jobs.

Evidence showed very clearly that it’s much more difficult for older females to get hired than it was for older men. That shouldn’t surprise you, but when you see it in print it just makes this fact all the more real.

And yes, there are age discrimination laws but it’s very hard, if not impossible to win.

Truth is, as older women you are held to different standards for how you look, your physical appearance, than men. But that is not new information. You know that.

By 2030 1 in 5 of you will be 65 and older. (Men and women) But as women, you live longer, there is a good chance you will be widowed and many of you either stayed out of the work force to raise children or you worked part time.

What all that can up to is that you don’t necessarily have the money you need in your retirement and post retirement needs.

But, there is a solution!!! Work for yourself!!

Being an entrepreneur can open doors you may never even thought about.

You have so much to offer, have you ever really thought about that? Do you realize the gifts, the experiences and a lifetime of learning that you can share with others?

Maybe you have never thought about this before.

Or maybe you have but  you have no idea how to get started.

Maybe you already have a job/job, as an employee but you really want to do something different now.  Something that makes your heart sing. Something where you can use  your strengths and be your own boss.

It’s something to think about if you haven’t already.
